      Brief Introduction

      Zhejiang Chinese Medical University is located near the south bank of Qianjiang River, in the city of Hangzhou, a world-famous tourist resort known for its beautiful scenery and rich cultural heritage. Zhejiang Chinese Medical University is a comprehensive public university based in Hangzhou city, capital of Zhejiang province, China. Over the past fifty years, particularly in the recent ten years, the faculty has kept the school motto “Seek the Origin at High Aspiration” in mind and worked with innovation and aspiration to improve the educational quality and strength of the university, which has advanced by leaps and bounds.
       
      (1). History
       
      Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU) was established 1953 originally as the Zhejiang Vocational School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It later developed into Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1959. It has been accredited to offer master’s degrees since 1978 and doctoral degrees since 1998. Since 1987, it also was granted permission to recruit students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. In 2003 saw the creation of Post-doctoral Research Station and in February 2006, with the approval of Chinese Ministry of Education, the school was renamed as Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU). 
       
      (2). Discipline Construction
       
      Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU), with 1035 teaching faculty and 10300 full-time students, is composed of 15 colleges. It offers 21 undergraduate majors, covering 5 fields in medicine, science, engineering, management, and arts, among which there are 5 unique specialties at state level and 8 at provincial level. It also boasts 3 post-doctor stations, 1 key specialty at state level, 9 at provincial level and 10 TCM research laboratories sponsored by State TCM Administration Bureau. 
       
      (3). Campus Overview
       
      Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU) has set up 1 National TCM Clinical Research Center, 3 SATCM (the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine) key laboratories, and 1 drug clinical trial body(adaptable to 12 majors) of the State Food and Drug Administration(SFDA). Supported by SATCM, the university also has 10 Class 3 laboratories for Chinese medicine study, and 2 provincial public technologically supporting platforms. Zhejiang Chinese Medical University shares 16 SATCM key Specialty and Tertiary Disease Centers, and also 31 provincial key Specialty and Tertiary Disease Centers. 
       
      (4). Affiliated Hospitals
       
      Zhejiang Chinese Medical University has three directly affiliated hospitals: Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of TCM (The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University), Zhejiang Provincial Xinhua Hospital (The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University), Zhongshan Hospital of Zhejiang Province (The Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University); and 18 indirectly affiliated hospitals. 
       
      (5). Significant Achievements 
       
      In 2001, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University was awarded “Excellence” on undergraduate education by the Ministry of Education. Two years later, it took the lead among provincial universities in establishing the TCM post-doctor station, and in the same year, the former Zhejiang Jiangong Hospital became its second affiliated hospital. In 2005, two specialties were listed as top priority specialties supported by Zhejiang Province. In 2006, the then Zhejiang College of TCM was renamed as Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. In 2007, it got the first key specialty at the State level among all the provincial universities, and Li Dapeng, one of its fellow researchers, was elected as a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 2008, it was again awarded “Excellence” on undergraduate education by Ministry of Education. In the same year, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University was approved to be a state drug administration base for clinical trial and won another two top priority specialties at provincial level. ZhejiangPost & Tele Hospital was merged into the Third Affiliated Hospital of ZCMU. In 2009, the university was authorized to grant doctoral degree in Clinical Medicine and He Ren, the former President of ZCMU, was honored the title of “Master of Chinese Medicine” by the Chinese government. 
       
      Communication and Cooperation
       
      Until 2013, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University has established the cooperation with 62 education and medical institutions in the United States, Germany, Britain, Italy, Brazil, Venezuela, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and other regions.
